Mathieu Arsenault is a writer and literary critic born in 1976. After his first work of note Album de finissants (2004), he went on to publish an essay entitled Le lyrisme à l’époque de son retour as well as an addtional work of fiction called Vu d’ici (Triptyque, 2008), the latter having been adapted and produced as a play by Christian Lapointe and Théâtre Péril in 2008 both in Montreal and Quebec City. He performs his texts on a regular basis at public readings and has participated in a variety of cultural events including Festival Voix d’Amériques, Marché de la poésie, the Off-Festival de la poésie de Trois-Rivières, the Off-Festival international de la littérature as well as on Radio-Canada’s Slam Macadam… in fact, Mathieu is also an experienced slam poet having participated in the Quebec finals for Grand Slam 2007. He points to his passion for writing and adolescent poetry as the main source of inspiration for his first story, Album de finissants.
