Xarah Dion

Member of Léopard & moi, Les momies de Palerme.

Xarah was born in Hinton in 1984. She started her musical studies in high school with classical piano, vibraphone, and tuba classes. In college she turns toward organ and clavecin. She’s been living in Montreal since 2005, being active on the musical scene. She is part of many formations like Léopard et moi and les momies de Palerme. Since 2007, Les momies de Palerme gave about thirty shows and participated to many festivals like Suoni per il Popolo, Pop Montreal and the Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville. Their album Brûlez ce cœur was released in 2010 under the Constellation Records label.

Xarah played and collaborated with many artists like Dominique Pétrin, Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, Sam Shalabi, Matana Roberts, Jean Derome, Gordon Allen. She sings and plays organ, synthesizers, prepared guitar, clarinet, and percussions. Also she produces visual art (collage, photography, video, film, etc.) for her musical projects. Poet as well, she’s working on a new album combining music and poetry, under the guidance of D.Kimm interdisciplinary artist.
