André Duchesne

André Duchesne, a guitarist and self-taught composer, is known for having liberated musical expression. From Rock, to folk, singing and improvisation, Duchesne has been carving a path in the musical world for over 30 years. Founder of Conventum, Les quatre guitarists de l’Apocalypso, Bar et Locomotive, he has also written music for string quartets. Duchesne has written the music to the city of Jonquière’s 150th anniversary, Le rêve de Marguerite, and he has produced the sound track to many films including one for L’Asile ou le royaume by filmmakers Jean and Serge Gagné. He figures amongst the 19 composers of the Millennium Symphony. In 2003, he spent a year in residence in Germany, followed by a tour of Italy with Pavel Fajt. He collaborated with D.Kimm and Bernard Falaise on the recording of Le Silence des Hommes. Last year, his Port symphony Allô New-York, ici Montréal, répondez! was presented at the Pointe-à-Callière museum. He is now working on a new CD of texts and songs entitled Club Grenada.
