Pierre Dumont

Pierre Dumont has devoted time and energy to cultural development for almost 35 years. He began creating musical and visual pieces as a teen. Artistic director of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean’s festival of creative music, since its beginnings in 1989, he is mostly known as a polymorphous artist. He is an accomplished musician and he has produced and recorded a variety of musical compositions for theater, dance and film. He particularly favors performances that blend music and poetry and he takes great pleasure in making his own musical instruments. He has played for many prominent poets from Quebec. Through his interdisciplinary work, that often combines music, writing, painting, sculpting and photography, he manages to extract substance from the spirit of rituals, which is at the very heart of his work.
