Coral Short

Coral Short is a prolific international performance, sound, and video artist. She has been a practicing artist for over ten years while living in Europe, Asia, and North America. Humour, fantasy, and transformation are integral components within Short’s performance. Her high feminine camp creations bridge the gap between nightlife and fine art. She harnesses the collective imagination of her community and serves it up on an ironic glittering platter to all. Her work helps to map the new feminist generation’s identity and power. Short is the founder of Women with Kitchen Appliances which she started in 1998 and currently performs with. She loves getting public with her art — interacting with the unsuspecting and curious masses. Her art creates playful direct action for stiff queer theory. She resists dualities creating new fluid identities. Coral Short currently resides in Montreal and New York.
