Andrea Thompson

Andrea Thompson is a writer, spoken word artist, media host, and arts administrator, currently living in Toronto. Working in a variety of forms, Andrea produced the CD, One (nominated for a Canadian Urban Music Award in 2005), hosted CiTr radio's half hour show, Hearsay, and as Executive Director of the Edgewise Electrolit Centre, hosted and produced Telepoetics, a video-conferenced live poetry series in Vancouver. Andrea performs her work across North America, and has been featured in the film Slam Nation, on Bravo TV's Planet Poetry, TVO’s Imprint, Carolyn Weaver’s BioLibrary and on CBC radio programs. Her video-poem, Juicy (produced by Seth-Adrian Harris) has been screened at the Vancouver Videopoem Festival and Toronto’s Iced in Black Festival. Andrea’s writing has been included in magazines, literary journals and anthologies across Canada. A regular visitor to secondary and post secondary schools, her collection, Eating the Seed has been featured on the reading list at the University of Toronto, and at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Andrea is currently the Marketing and Communications Manager at the League of Canadian Poets, and is the host of season two of the thirteen part television series, Heart of a Poet, airing on Bravo TV in early 2007.
