Danette MacKay

[traduction française non disponible]

Danette MacKay studied performance at Concordia University and has been a professional actor and singer for over 30 years, working in theatre, television and film. After seeing the Va Va Voom Room cabaret featuring burlesque, music and stand up at the famous Club Fez in N.Y.C. in 2001, she was inspired to create the Kiss My Cabaret. It became an instant hit with audiences, who loved the variety show format, and also with the performers, who now had the opportunity to hone new work in front of an audience. The KMC also became a creative haven for artists whose work defied description; high tech, low and no tech, video and drag, circus, spoken word, dance and burlesque all began to borrow from each other and collaborate to create unique performance art. Over the years, a core group of regular performers has emerged, and they share the stage with young emerging artists experimenting with their chosen disciplines. Danette curates, emcees and performs at every KMC.
