Montreal Tour, part of the "Conseil des arts de Montréal en tournée"
Les Filles électriques and the Conseil des arts de Montréal en tournée organized a
poetry-and-music show titled Poètes publics/Public Poets (Phase One). Hosted
by D.
Kimm, Director of Les Filles électriques, the show gave Montreal audiences a
chance to see performances by six poets and two musicians, featuring new trends in
performance poetry.
The tour ran from October 2006 to March 2007 in the Maisons de la culture in the
Côte-des-Neiges, Maisonneuve, Frontenac, and Plateau-Mont-Royal districts of Montreal,
as well as at the Centre culturel de Pierrefonds and the Auditorium Le Prévost.
Audiences were introduced to established poet-performers such as Martine Audet,
Carole David, Jean-François Poupart, Kim Doré, rapper Séba and slammer Ivy; and to
emerging artists such as Algonquin rapper Samian and poets Hector Ruiz, Daphnée Azoulay
and Renée Gagnon. The improv musicians were Luc Bonin, Philippe Brault, Guido Del
Fabbro, Guillaume Dostaler, Diane Labrosse and Martin Tétreault.
Les Filles électriques saluted the Conseil des arts de Montréal on the occasion of
its 50th anniversary, in recognition of its crucial role in developing the arts in
Montreal.
